It Must Be Dorset Honey

Who we are

We are a locally based family run enterprise, producing natural honey and associated products.

All our honey is produced in the village of Sturminster Marshall, Dorset,

This is now our second full season with 9 hives all producing our quality honey

About our honey

The honey we have available is raw unfiltered honey.

This means it comes straight from our hives, it is mechanically extracted then gravity fed through a sieve to remove honeycomb, beeswax, and larger particles of natural debris.

Raw honey can become cloudy … it is not going bad. It is crystallising.

Raw honey contains small particles of pollen, beeswax, bee glue and other nutrients. This is not a bad thing as they are largely responsible for raw honey's potential health benefits.

Those tiny bits and pieces are perfect for the glucose to crystallise on as it becomes undissolved in the honey solution. Therefore these little particles are the reason that raw honey is more likely to form crystals than a pasteurised and fully processed product.

Our honey is not filtered, a process which prevents it crystallising. This involves heating and then rapidly cooling the honey, the heat kills most of the enzymes, vitamins and minerals and most of the pollen is filtered out.

You can dissolve the crystals in your honey by gently heating and stirring it.
